FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A 21-year-old Spring Lake man died following a motorcycle crash at a Fayetteville intersection early Sunday morning, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Officers responded to the collision at Person Street and Old Wilmington Road around 3 a.m. on Sunday. Preliminary investigation indicates that Jackson Corum was operating a 2011 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Person Street when he struck the traffic circle at the Old Wilmington Road intersection.
Corum was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with critical injuries but did not survive. A 20-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene.
The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is conducting an active investigation into the circumstances of the collision. The area is known to local residents as a busy corridor connecting downtown Fayetteville with surrounding Cumberland County communities.
