PFC Gabriel Ceville faces secret peeping charges following October incident; was previously acquitted in separate 2023 child death case
FAYETTEVILLE — A Fort Bragg infantryman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly taking photographs of a 15-year-old in a Cross Creek Mall department store fitting room, according to Fayetteville Police Department warrants.
Private First Class Gabriel Alejandro Ceville, stationed with the 82nd Airborne Division, was taken into custody and held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond. The arrest stems from an October 24th incident where police responded to the mall for reports of secret peeping.
Ceville posted bond and was released from custody on Thursday, according to court records. An 82nd Airborne Division spokesperson confirmed Ceville’s assignment to the division but declined further comment pending the investigation.
This is not Ceville’s first encounter with law enforcement. In January 2025, a Cumberland County jury found him not guilty of murder charges related to the 2023 death of his 9-month-old daughter, Misty Delatorre. The infant died from blunt force trauma to her head and neck, according to the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled the death a homicide.
Additionally, Ceville faces unrelated charges in Pennsylvania for indecent exposure stemming from a separate mall incident this past summer. The Lower Allen Township Police Department charged him after reports of a man exposing himself and masturbating in a vehicle at the Capital City Mall in June.
The case highlights ongoing collaboration between civilian law enforcement and military authorities in addressing criminal allegations involving service personnel from Fort Bragg.
