As of November 1st, Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) has officially switched to its winter “Time-of-Use” rate schedule. This change directly impacts how much you pay for electricity during the coldest months of the year.
The key change for residents to know: Winter peak hours are now 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., every day. This three-hour window is when energy demand is highest, and rates are approximately 35% more expensive than during off-peak hours.
PWC Customer Service Supervisor Sharon Carvin advises that shifting energy-intensive activities—like running laundry, dishwashers, or heating appliances—to the afternoon can lead to significant savings on your monthly bill. The utility also recommends setting your thermostat to 68°F for optimal efficiency.
Check your routine. Postponing that morning load of laundry until after 9 a.m. is a simple change that keeps money in your pocket.
Cumberland County residents can track their precise energy usage through PWC’s Online Account Manager. For more money-saving tips, visit faypwc.com.
